One of my favorite finds was a Nepali fish hot sauce. If you like bold flavors, this is a must buy. I am already regretting not getting a few extra bottles. It packs a punch, has this funky depth to it, and is perfect for adding a little kick to any dish. I also picked up Nepali tea that smelled absolutely divine, and local honey that is produced right here in Nepal. What I love most is that the prices are local too. You are not paying inflated tourist rates — you are paying what locals pay, and the quality is excellent. Their instant noodle section deserves its own spotlight. They had some of the weirdest and most wonderful flavors I have ever seen. One of them was chicken pizza flavor — yes, chicken pizza — and of course, I had to try it. I also grabbed a few packs of spicy ramen and some local brands I had never heard of. Instant noodle lovers will be in paradise. The store also has a great selection of locally made biscuits and snacks, many of which are not exported. Oh, Himalayan teas!!! They make awesome souvenirs or snacks for the trip home. Plus, if you are into fashion, they have domestic dress shirts and casual wear that are surprisingly stylish and very reasonably priced. It is clean, organized, and despite being busy, it did not feel overwhelming. The staff were friendly and helpful when I had questions. You can take your time browsing and there is always something unexpected on the next shelf. Whether you are stocking up for your stay, grabbing last minute gifts, or just curious to see how locals shop — Bhat Bhateni in Koteshwor is a must visit. It is the kind of place where you go in for tea and leave with a bag full of stories.
